Somewhere in the Andes, there’s a volcano called Cotopaxi. It’s one of the highest active volcanoes in the world, and it’s been watching over Ecuador for as long as anyone can remember.
Our founder grew up in its shadow. He spent his childhood hiking its trails, drinking from its glacial streams, and watching wild llamas roam its slopes. That mountain taught him something important—that adventure isn’t just about getting outside. It’s about gratitude. It’s about understanding that the world is big and beautiful and worth protecting.
So when he started this company back in 2014, he didn’t just want to make outdoor gear. He wanted to build something that could actually make a difference.
That’s why we do things differently.
We make backpacks, travel bags, jackets, fleeces, and all the gear you need to get out there. But we don’t just make them to look good or perform well—though they do both. We make them with purpose. Every single product is designed to last, because the most sustainable thing you can do is buy something you don’t have to replace. We use recycled materials, leftover fabrics, and responsible sourcing wherever we can. We became carbon-neutral certified back in 2020, and we’re pushing ourselves to go even further.
But here’s the part that really matters: we give 1% of our annual revenue to the Cotopaxi Foundation. That money goes to nonprofits that are actually fighting extreme poverty—organizations like the International Rescue Committee, Mercy Corps, and others that have proven track records of improving lives. We focus on health, education, and livelihoods, because those are the things that break the cycle of poverty.
We’re a certified B Corporation and a Public Benefit Corporation. That means we’re legally required to consider the impact of our decisions on our employees, our communities, and the planet—not just our shareholders. It’s not a marketing gimmick. It’s how we’re built.
And the llamas? Yeah, we love llamas. They’re hardy, sociable, fiercely loyal, curious, and a little eccentric. Kind of like us.
We believe adventure should be joyful. It should be colorful. It should be open to everyone. And it should leave the world a little better than we found it.
